The Arthritis Foundation

AOII has been partnering with the Arthritis Foundation since 1967 to raise money and awareness for Arthritis research. Through the AOII Foundation and efforts of collegiate and alumnae chapters, Alpha Omicron Pi has been able to provide grants to fund further research for treatments, causes, and cures for arthritis. Nearly 1 in 3 adults will suffer from arthritis, and over half of those are women. Arthritis not only affects adults, but also children. Almost 300,000 children in the U.S. have Arthritis. Arthritis remains the #1 cause of disability in the US today.  We feel so lucky to be able to help support a philanthropy that affects so many people.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Omicron has continuously supported the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society over the past decade in memory of one of our sisters, Marla Rose Angotti, who lost her battle to Leukemia in 2002. The LLS's event every fall is the Light the Night walk on our campus. We began to walk in her honor, and continue to walk in her memory today. We share her story with our chapter because of the great impact she had while she was with us; her character was respected by all of our sisterhood and helped to bring Light the Night to UT's campus.
